Beginners course – 2027

Would you like to learn how to keep bees in your garden or elsewhere? Beverley Beekeepers hold courses to teach you do just this.

This course combines a theoretical and practical programme over nine weeks.By the end of the course you should be in a great place to begin your own beekeeping journey.

The theory part of the programme will be delivered via Zoom over nine weeks on a Tuesday night. These sessions will prepare you for the practical part of the course which takes place over six Thursday evenings.

Dates and times:

  • theory sessions – Tuesday 7-8:30 p.m. via Zoom. May 25th – July 13th
  • practical sessions – Thursday 7-8:30 p.m. Beverley apiary. June 3rd – 8 July

For the pactical course full protective clothing will be provided including the loan of a beesuit. The sessions will run at the association’s apiary in Beverley.

The cost for this course will be £250 which will include registration with the Beverley Beekeepers Association as a full member in order to receive the insurance provided as well as other benefits. Without membership/insurance we cannot allow you to handle bees and equipment. The cost of membership runs October to September and you rerceive the BBKA magazine, BBKA News each month, so it is worth joining early to get the most benefit from the membership period. If you have bees or are planning to get some in the spring we would say membership is essential as you will also get Bee Disease Insurance.

Please note that we strive to provide the practical sessions as advertised. We are, however, at the mercy of the weather. Where we need to cancel a session we will attempt to reschedule it but we cannot guarantee that the replacement session will be on a Thursday evening.

Booking details will follow shortly.
