Appeal for vigilance of beekeepers and the general public

Asian Hornet

British beekeepers are currently fighting against the invasion of an asian hornet which has colonised much of southern Europe having expanded from its native China.

The Asian Hornet predates on honeybees as well as other beneficial insects and is such a threat it destroys whole colonies.

There has been a recent confirmed sighting locally an we ask everyone to be vigilant for this pest. Be aware that Asian Hornets have been known to attack humans so if you do see a nest it is important not to approach it.
