There can’t be many people don’t know that bees are in trouble and everyone wants to know how they can help. A growing number also want to help by becoming beekeepers themselves. Beverley Beekeepers Association is doing its bit to help, as part of our aim or promoting bees and beekeeping.
Each year we have an Open Day in July at our teaching apiary at the Millenium Orchard Beverley Parks. The day is designed to attract and inform members of the public who are interested in bees and honey or are thinking of taking up the craft of beekeeping.

The pictures on this page show our successful Open Day in July 2009. There are more pictures of the event on the HU17.net website.at http://www.hu17.net/beverley-bee-keepers-day/

Beekeeping Project in Cameroon

We are supporting the Lebialem Hunter’s Project ( www.bee4bushmeat.org/,) which began locally ,led by Juliette Wright from Cottingham. The project works with bushmeat hunters in Cameroon training them to become beekeepers. By giving them an alternative income it is hoped to protect apes from being hunted for food. There will be a display on the project and a prize tombola to raise funds. Proceeds from the refreshments available all day will also go to support the hunters project.     So if you want to find out everything there is to know about bees come and see us at the Open Day. If you have any questions about our Open Day please contact the Secretary on  enquiries@beverleybeekeepers.co.uk
